Ridge Stone Golf Course opened in 2002 and earned distinction as the Iowa 9-Hole Course of the Year in 2008. A links style track designed by architect Mark Kerr with accompanying practice greens and driving range, Ridge Stone’s layout offers unique features. Hole 4 pays homage to the Smith Brick & Tile plant, which was once a landmark of the Sheffield community. Golfers will find themselves playing through the remains of the brick plant as they approach the green. Hole 7 is the course’s signature hole, with Bailey’s Creek on the left and a pond on the right.
We want Ridge Stone to become known for its British Open-style fairways with greens like Augusta. The course features rolling fairways, surrounded by tall fescue. Players will notice striping on the fairways and fading into the rough. The large greens are heavily contoured and fast. Collars around the greens are groomed, and the entire course is irrigated with watering heads at least every 80 feet.
Ridge Stone plays from 2,437 to 3,374 yards for a par of 36. There are four sets of tees to accommodate all handicaps. As a public course, we welcome both members and non-members to enjoy our course.
